Dr. Stalder will discuss lameness as it relates to why sows are culled from the herd and impact on culling rates. He will also share the gilt evaluation selection poster as a tool for improving the sow herd.

Dr. Hahn will focus on the value of new Hy•D® for gilt development and how a water-soluble program is an innovative way to address delivery in gilt development barns, boar studs and other production areas.

Topic: Effects of inadequate vitamin supplementation
Dr. Bergstrom will discuss levels of adequate vitamin supplementation — suboptimal, Optimum Vitamin Nutrition (OVN), and the need for special OVN applications. He’ll also touch on the most critical stages and considerations for vitamin supplementation, including reproduction, weaning stress/immunity, summer heat stress and pork quality.
