8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Varied Industries Building, Meeting Room D
Sessions at: 8:00am-9:00am, 9:30am-10:30am, and 11:00am-12:00pm
With an abundance of misinformation about food and agriculture online, farmers and ranchers have a responsibility to speak up and lead the conversation. If farmers and ranchers do not engage consumers with facts and stories about how they grow and raise food, consumers will go elsewhere for information – perhaps from the perspective of someone who’s never been to a farm. We have an opportunity to elevate the voices of farmers, ranchers and agriculturalists on social media through the U.S. Farmers & Ranchers Alliance’s app, engAGe. It allows users to stay abreast of current news in agriculture and amplify content with a simple click. It’s also easy to use, no matter your skill level with social media. This session will discuss why agriculture needs to activate its many voices online, highlight impactful messages in sharing farmer and rancher stories, and provide an overview of how to use engAGe.
Featured Speaker: Carla Wardin, USFRA Communications Specialist, Former Face of Farming & Ranching, Michigan dairy farmer.
